THE UNOFFICIAL RESTAURANT GUIDE FOR A VEGAN/VEGETARIAN IN HOI AN
First on the list is the famous Banh Mi, and we've got you covered with vegan options like our Peanuts' Vegan gourmet banh mi and Vegan sourdough banh mi. But if you're looking for other stalls, here are some good ones:
- Banh mi chay Le Hoi - famous Vegan banh mi near old town center
- Banh mi chay La Bo De on Ly Thuong Kiet Street
- Vegan Banh mi (Banh Mi Chay) Hoa Sen – my favorite banh mi Chay (vegan) in town
- Phi Bánh Mì - Vegan and Vegetarian, lovely charcoal toasted baguette with avocado, tofu or egg
- Bánh mỳ Madame Khanh – Banh my Queen: Only vegetarian option but it is really good
If you're looking for a full meal, we've got plenty of vegan/vegetarian restaurants to choose from:
- ROM Bistro Hoi An – very good vegetarian/vegan food for affordable prices – I love their banana blossom salad and the eggplant mushroom dish
- Good Eats Hoi An (for Western-styled vegan food and desserts, they also serve nut milk coffee)
- Nourish Eatery – very popular place in Hoi An for breakfast/brunch or lunch. They’ve been serving Western-styled vegan/vegetarian food for years in their beautiful space and you will for sure find the team lovely <3
- Fisherman Vegan restaurant
- Ba Dam Vegetarian Restaurant in old town
- Ken Vegetarian Café in An Bang – Cool spot in An Bang for Vegan Pho in the morning after swimming. Big menu with a lot of good options
- Minh Hiển 2 Vegetarian Restaurant – a big menu and everything tastes good, especially their banh xeo (but on the pricey side)
- Chickpea Eatery in Hoi An in old town
- Am Vegetarian & Hideaway – a bit off the touristic areas but worth the trip. Try the vegan Pho here, you won’t be disappointed
These are not entirely vegan/vegetarian but they have good vegan/vegetarian options on their menu that’s worth a try:
- Red Dragon – Their vegan fresh rolls with black sesame sauce is my favorite here, check their vegetarian/vegan set on the menu, you will absolutely love it!
- An Villa for Vegan Banh Xeo (on their daily menu) and Vegan Banh cuon every Saturday morning which is really nice
- Cobb by the river – for the closest thing to a fine dine-in restaurant, you might want to check with them in advance to pre-order some vegan menu
- MÙA – for the BEST dining experience you can ever find in Hoi An or maybe in Vietnam, talk to Chef Tru, he really knows what he is doing and believe me, it’s WORTH the price
And for a good cup of coffee, we recommend:
- 145 Espresso Café – super nice people that run this little place – very good coffee beans, best quality of coffee for the areas around Cam Thanh and Cam Chau
- Rosie’s café for Vegan cappuccino or coffee with nut milk - they also serve beautiful healthy breakfast/brunch
- The Inner Hoian by Àla – this is a new spot near old town - A wonderful oasis of calm in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Hoi An. Super nice and friendly team
- Sound of Silence in Tan Thanh beach (near An Bang) – Try their beautiful coconut coffee and choose the seats by the beach
- Thom’s Sourdough bakery – for sourdough fans, one of the best sourdoughs you can find in South East Asia ;)
- Lo Gach Cu Café – Farm may not be on the typical tourist path, but it is a stunning farm cafe that you can easily visit. It is located just 45 minutes away by bicycle or 20 minutes by motorbike. The farm features a picturesque fort that provides a wonderful photo opportunity. Moreover, the farm produces organic black rice that is used in our kitchen
- Roving Chill House (might be full of locals and Instagrammers sometimes because it’s located in between rice paddies)
- Chic Chillax – almost same description with Roving chill house
- Fefe Coffee located in Cam Ha, offers top quality coffee beans and boasts a charming garden setup
There is a plethora of cafes, restaurants, and locations to visit here in Hoi An. If you have some spare time, you may want to consider typing their names into Google Maps to explore further. Some noteworthy locations include:
• Coco Casa for a stunning sunset view.
• Soul Kitchen, Shore Club, and Deckhouse in An Bang for a relaxing beachside experience.
• For a less crowded beach with local drinks and food, Hidden Beach is a great option.
Although there may be other places that we have not mentioned, this list should serve you well for now.
